Math teacher in RC Palmer Secondary School most are very good, make students like. It is mainly related to their teaching method. Every teachers' are different, some are good, but some are bad.
For Math 8 and 9, most class will have a about grade 11 or 12 student to be the teaching assistant to help teacher. Teacher will most ask him to mark test and quiz, but teacher will check again. Also, teaching assistant will without teacher helping to teach class for two times, teacher will watch him and give evaluation to him. Teaching assistant will make the note for students by himself, but it's not as good as the teacher's, so teacher will still give students their note again.
Math teacher will send their note to their students first, it's has few pages, like the worksheet. Teacher will ask students to write main point word down on it. On the note, there are all the question type of this unit. Most Math teacher are bringing a tablet to teach students, they will projection the tablet screen on the whiteboard, show students how to answer the question step by step. Most time students just copy the problem solving process on the notes.
After students taking notes, teacher will give students worksheets to do, most time looks like a lot, some are homework, some are classwork. Homework means if students didn't finish in class, they need bring to home to finish. Classwork means students just try to do as more as they can in class time. It according to teachers' habit. Some teacher like to give a lot of homework. Some are almost not sign homework, it will make students like them. Some teacher will give students a homework tracker, student will write down the what they need to do for the homework, due date. After teacher check, will signature on it, means okay.
After few classes, teacher will let students to do a quiz, it is not very long. Student can just look it as a practice. After the whole unit finish, teacher will give students a unit test, it's content is much more than quiz. It's important, teacher will look at the mark to give students the learning report. Quiz is perhaps one week one time, test is perhaps two weeks one time. Goal is check how are the students understand.
In conclusion, RC Palmer Secondary School Math teacher are very nice, their teaching method make students like. They will give students a report card at the end, it according to students class participation, homework completion status, test/quiz mark.
