What Students Do In Social Studies
In social studies class, students will learn history, geography, civics, and economics by analysis, discussion, research, and ask questions. Humanities 8 is different, because it is English and Social Studies' combination, so students will also learn reading, writing, speaking and vocabulary.
For history, students will research and read the information to understand the different era. They should be understand all the Canada dynasties. Every dynasties from which year to which year, and what happened in every dynasties, like is it had war, human changes. Students will do a timeline, distinguish every dynasties, write the dynasties name and years, and detailed introduction clearly.
Timeline
For geography, students will learn topography and population. Most is topography, students will know the territories, provinces, city. Student will research Canada's map, make sure know every provinces' location, and what are their capital city, and understand where are the south, east, north, west. Students will draw a map by themself, they should mark every provinces, capital cities, and draw a compass in the corner. Students will also learn the population of Canada and the world, know the change of every year, increase or decrease.

For economics, students will learn the different income for different jobs. Some jobs' income are high, some are low.
Also, students will know what area poor and rich. Students will also learn prices, like how much do every daily necessities will generally cost? So they won't lose money in future, if some bad merchants sell things at very high prices.

For civics, students will learn about government, law, and right. They will know what are the different level governments do, such as mayor manage city. Students will research Canadian Law, it will help them know what can or can't they do in the future for workplace, make sure they don't break the law. High grade students will get the chance to visit the court. Also, students will learn the rights of the every person in Canada. Canada is a immigration country, there are citizens, immigrants, tourists, indigenous people. They will know what can different types of people do? Such as citizens have the right to vote, tourists are not allowed to read or work, and what can you do at what age?
In conclusion, all the things students do in social studies class will help them a lot in their life. History and geography will know better of the country. Civics will know rights of people at different levels. Economics will make students don't suffer losses in trade.
